Antarctic Centre Fun!!

On Monday, The Room 3 and Room 10 children went on a trip to the
Antarctic Centre.

The purpose of this trip was to spark an interest on this terms Inquiry topic  ’Mysterious Cold places’.
We were very happy with Jane, our teacher at the Antarctic Centre. She was a fantastic source of information and she looked after us all so well.
The day was spent, first in their special classroom where the  children were impressed with the interactive activities and clever blue lighting, which set the ‘mood’ for our Antarctic experience. We then had a thrilling ride on the Hagglund, my personal favourite. Then we had some time to spend with the little blue penguin's. The children asked some superb questions when watching these little guys. Next we watched a breath taking movie on Antarctica and afterwards we were able to spend some time in the Gallery where the children were able to move freely and have some ‘hands on’ experiences with the attractions and equipment on offer. Our grand finale was the ‘Snow and ice experience’ ; we were all treated to a ‘summer’s day’ in Antarctica. A day in Antarctica wouldn't be complete without a snowstorm, so we all huddled together through a snowstorm with a minus 18 degree wind chill factor! Something many of the children will never forget.
I was so proud of Room 3. They all followed our 4 R’s and which made our day pleasant and enjoyable. The children  gave everything a go and had a truck load of fun. Thank you families for supporting this trip, it was an amazing experience for all who went.

  2. Thank you! We have such a great time and I have been blown away by how many 'facts' the children have remembered from this experience.
